Abstract

The rapid growth of digital healthcare systems has led to an enormous increase in health data, making its secure management a critical challenge. Traditional healthcare information systems often struggle with issues such as data breaches, lack of transparency, and inefficient data sharing. Blockchain technology has emerged as a powerful solution to address these challenges due to its decentralized, secure, and tamper-proof nature. This paper presents a blockchain-based framework designed to improve the security and management of patient medical records. The proposed system enhances multiple healthcare operations, including electronic health record (EHR) management, prescription tracking, maternal health data handling, and healthcare supply chain monitoring. By ensuring secure access, data immutability, and transparent sharing, the system builds trust among stakeholders such as patients, doctors, and healthcare institutions. The framework utilizes a permissioned blockchain network, implemented using Hyperledger technology within a cloud environment. To further strengthen security and control access, the system operates inside a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), ensuring that only authorized users can interact with the data. This approach not only improves data security and traceability but also supports efficient and scalable healthcare data management.
