Abstract
The mutual fund industry has emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments of the Indian financial system by providing investors with professionally managed, diversified, and accessible investment opportunities. Rapid technological advancement, increasing financial literacy, regulatory reforms introduced by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and the growing popularity of Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) have significantly accelerated the industry's expansion. This study examines the growth of the mutual fund industry in India by analyzing investor awareness, industry development, technological adoption, regulatory support, and investment behavior. The research follows a descriptive research design using both primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected from 100 respondents through a structured questionnaire using convenience sampling, while secondary information was obtained from AMFI reports, SEBI publications, research journals, annual reports, and financial literature. Percentage and frequency analyses were employed to interpret the collected data. The findings reveal that increasing investor awareness, digital investment platforms, financial literacy, and regulatory initiatives have substantially contributed to the industry's growth. The study concludes that the mutual fund industry has become an important pillar of India's financial system by encouraging household savings, improving capital market participation, and supporting long-term wealth creation.
