Abstract
This study examines five published research papers on vaccine logistics and delivery in which Operations Research (OR) techniques are applied to real problems. The main topic is vaccine distribution optimisation: the least-cost movement of vaccine from sources to destinations, viewed through the transportation model and its two classic steps, an initial feasible solution (Vogel's Approximation Method, VAM) and an optimality test (MODI). The literature is then used to analyse, in detail, one published vaccine transshipment case and to show how its solution is checked for optimality. The focus is practical: vaccines are perishable, they need an unbroken cold chain, budgets are tight and volumes are huge. Guessing wastes doses; a model proves the best plan and shows the cost of every limit
